Both Ravel and Applebaum were brilliant and modern composers, greatly stimulated by their friendships with avant-garde poets, painters and musicians who believed in their gifts long before they were recognized by their audiences and critics.
Both Ravel and Applebaum held a vision of music that was far ahead of their time.
