Turkey 2010—Cities Through the Ages
April 27th to May 16, 2010
The landscape of western Turkey is filled with a glorious array of artistic and monumental remains from many ancient civilizations—the Hittites, the Trojans, the Phrygians, the Lydians, the Carians, the Lycians, the Ionian Greeks, the Romans, and others.
Cities through the Ages offers students a remarkable opportunity to visit and study a fascinating collection of the major Greco-Roman cities of Asia Minor—from the walls of Troy “rich in gold” to the Roman temple to Apollo on the shores of the Mediterranean at Side.
Enhanced by visits to local and regional museums, this trip provides students of history, culture, literature and society a chance to visit in person the homes, the neighborhoods, the markets, the religious sites and the entertainment venues in the ancient cities of the most important region of the eastern Roman Empire.
